The ChiliView Series - Hollister (3O7), San Luis Reservoir, Los Banos (KLSN)
The San Luis reservoir is the largest off-stream artificial lake in the US. It acts as a buffer in the California Aquaeduct system. Surplus water is pumped up-hill from the O'Neil Forebay and released back into the Forebay when needed. Some of the energy used to pump the water can be reclaimed by a hydroelectric plant. Los Banos Municipal Airport (KLSN) was once a base for crop dusting operations. But since 1989 these operations are no longer authorized, since hazardous materials threatened to contaminate the groundwater which is just a couple of feet below the surface at the airport. Hollister Municipal Airport (KCVH) is a regional center for glider activity. On June 21th, 2008 Eric Rupp set a new glider flight record from the Bay Area when he flew from Hollister to Calexico on the Mexican border. The 444 miles ride took him seven an a half hours and as high as 17.300ft. For every foot his glider climbs, it can glide 40. Compare that with the approx 9 feet for a Cassna Skyhawk.
It covers a total of 3625 sq km.
For FSX and Prepar3D.
The resolution of 1 m/pix brings you razor-sharp images even near the ground.
